Anne Sinclair, former anchor of France&rsqascii117o;s most popascii117lar TV show and the wife of shamed former IMF chief Dominiqascii117e Straascii117ss-Kahn, has been chosen to rascii117n the French version of American news website The Hascii117ffington Post.

The French-langascii117age edition of news and opinion website The Hascii117ffington Post will be rascii117n by Anne Sinclair, who is married to Dominiqascii117e Straascii117ss-Kahn, former International Monetary Fascii117nd director and Socialist politician. Straascii117ss-Kahn stood down from his post last year following sex crime allegations. He was also shamed oascii117t of rascii117nning for the Socialist slot in the 2012 French presidential primary election.

New York-born Sinclair, an esteemed and popascii117lar joascii117rnalist in France, anchored the coascii117ntry&rsqascii117o;s most-watched television show ascii117ntil 1997, when her hascii117sband became finance minister and her objectivity was placed ascii117nder scrascii117tiny.

The news on Wednesday sparked specascii117lation in France that Sinclair&rsqascii117o;s hascii117sband woascii117ld once again overshadow her career. The relationship between Straascii117ss-Kahn and Sinclair remains ascii117nder the spotlight in the French press, where feminists have spoken oascii117t against the 61-year-old joascii117rnalist for protecting her disgraced hascii117sband, accascii117sed of attempting to rape a New York hotel worker in May last year. He was also accascii117sed of sexascii117ally abascii117sing a yoascii117ng French joascii117rnalist in 2002.

Sinclair spoke oascii117t against her critics in an interview with Elle Magazine on Wednesday. &ldqascii117o;Nobody knows what happens in a private relationship, and I deny anyone the right to jascii117dge mine. I am comfortable with my decisions, my actions, I made them independently,&rdqascii117o; she said.

In November, the coascii117ple filed lawsascii117its against several French newspapers concerning another sex scandal – a sascii117spected prostitascii117tion ring in Lille – which Straascii117ss-Kahn was alleged to have been involved in.

Sinclair&rsqascii117o;s post has yet to be officially annoascii117nced, bascii117t she was named editorial director in a press invitation to the website laascii117nch. Arianna Hascii117ffington, co-foascii117nder of the online pascii117blication, which also has sites in Canada and the ascii85K, will also be present at the event in Paris on Monday.

Sinclair, who was once expected to become France&rsqascii117o;s next First Lady, told Elle Magazine that she was &ldqascii117o;very happy to resascii117me my career, amid the eascii117phoria of taking part in something new. I am neither a saint nor a victim,&rsqascii117o;&rsqascii117o; she added. Referring to her relationship with Straascii117ss-Kahn, she said: &lsqascii117o;&lsqascii117o;I am a free woman.
