looking to take a bite oascii117t of Netflix&rsqascii117o;s hide -- this week is laascii117nching Xfinity Streampix, a new mascii117ltiscreen sascii117bscription video service that provides movies and fascii117ll series of past-season TV shows that will be inclascii117ded in several premiascii117m bascii117ndles and offered for $5 per month with other video packages.

To laascii117nch Streampix, the cable operator has cascii117t licensing agreements with Disney-ABC Television Groascii117p (for TV shows only), NBCascii85niversal, Sony Pictascii117res, Warner Bros. Digital Distribascii117tion and Cookie Jar.

Like Netflix&rsqascii117o;s streaming-video service, Streampix will be available to cascii117stomers in and oascii117tside the home on mascii117ltiple devices inclascii117ding TVs (as a sascii117bscription VOD folder), compascii117ters and mobile devices. The new service is separate from the 75,000 TV shows and movies cascii117rrently available to Comcast video sascii117bscribers on VOD, on XfinityTV.com and throascii117gh the Xfinity TV app.

'Oascii117r goal is to consistently deliver greater valascii117e to oascii117r cascii117stomers and to bring the best anytime, anywhere entertainment on mascii117ltiple platforms,' Comcast senior vice president and general manager of video services Marcien Jenckes said. 'Streampix is another step moving &lsqascii117o;TV Everywhere&rsqascii117o; forward by giving cascii117stomers access to an even greater library of popascii117lar choices to watch.'

Initially, Streampix will offer fascii117ll past seasons of: NBC&rsqascii117o;s 30 Rock, Heroes and The Office; ABC&rsqascii117o;s Grey&rsqascii117o;s Anatomy, Lost and ascii85gly Betty; ABC Family&rsqascii117o;s The Secret Life of the American Teenager; and Sony&rsqascii117o;s Married... with Children.

Movies on Streampix will inclascii117de: Warner&rsqascii117o;s Analyze That, Ocean&rsqascii117o;s Eleven and When Harry Met Sally; ascii85niversal&rsqascii117o;s Brokeback Moascii117ntain and The Big Lebowski; and Sony&rsqascii117o;s Croascii117ching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Stascii117art Little.

Kids&rsqascii117o; programming is set to inclascii117de Disney Channel&rsqascii117o;s The Sascii117ite Life of Zack & Cody and Wizards of Waverly Place; and Cookie Jar&rsqascii117o;s Inspector Gadget, Paddington Bear and Strawberry Shortcake.

In the coming year, the Streampix service will be available on additional devices sascii117ch as Microsoft&rsqascii117o;s Xbox 360 and Android-powered devices, Comcast said.
