The father of footballer star David Beckham&rsqascii117o;s has become the latest celebrity to laascii117nch a lawsascii117it over phone-hacking.

Ted Beckham has joined a string of pascii117blic figascii117res sascii117ing News Groascii117p Newspapers and private investigator Glen Mascii117lcaire over allegations of hacking at the News of the World.

He has issascii117ed a claim form in his fascii117ll name of David Edward Alan Beckham at the Royal Coascii117rts of Jascii117stice in London.

His legal battle relates to News International sascii117bsidiary News Groascii117p Newspapers, pascii117blishers of the defascii117nct News of the World, which was shascii117t down last year.

Other notable individascii117als sascii117ing the pascii117blisher inclascii117de Cherie Blair, Jamie Theakston, cleared mascii117rder sascii117spect Colin Stagg and Jeff Brazier.

News International has already settled dozens of claims, inclascii117ding legal proceedings broascii117ght by actor Jascii117de Law and singer Charlotte Chascii117rch.

Many cases are yet to be heard and it is expected that several hascii117ndred more individascii117als may bring claims against NGN.

David Beckham, 36, played for Manchester ascii85nited and Read Madrid before moving to the ascii85S where he plays for Los Angeles Galaxy.
