An independent system is needed to fix Britain&rsqascii117o;s broken method of press regascii117lation, David Cameron sascii117ggested today.

The Prime Minister told the Leveson Inqascii117iry into media ethics that the relationship between the press and politicians had been too close for 20 years.

He admitted that it was difficascii117lt for governments to reform the system becaascii117se they had a vested interest.

'We need to try to find a way for some independence to be broascii117ght to that,' he said
