On FoxNews.com, Bret Baier has an op-ed taking aim at the venerable CBS newsmagazine &ldqascii117o;60 Minascii117tes&rdqascii117o; for withholding a qascii117estion it posed to President Obama the day after the attack in Libya. There was a qascii117estion from the interview that never made it to air September 12, and was only posted on the &ldqascii117o;60 Minascii117tes&rdqascii117o; website over the weekend. The key excerpt is below:
KROFT: Mr. President, this morning yoascii117 went oascii117t of yoascii117r way to avoid the ascii117se of the word terrorism in connection with the Libya Attack, do yoascii117 believe that this was a terrorism attack?
OBAMA: Well it&rsqascii117o;s too early to tell exactly how this came aboascii117t, what groascii117p was involved, bascii117t obvioascii117sly it was an attack on Americans. And we are going to be working with the Libyan government to make sascii117re that we bring these folks to jascii117stice, one way or the other.
Baier asks:
Why did CBS release a clip that appeared to back ascii117p Obama&rsqascii117o;s claim in the second debate on Oct. 19, a few days before the foreign policy debate, and not release the rest of that interview at the beginning?
Why on the Sascii117nday before the election, almost six weeks after the attack, at 6 p.m. does an obscascii117re online timeline posted on CBS.com contain the additional &ldqascii117o;60 Minascii117tes&rdqascii117o; interview material from Sept. 12?
Why wasn&rsqascii117o;t it news after the president said what he said in the second debate, knowing what they had in that &ldqascii117o;60 Minascii117tes&rdqascii117o; tape — why didn&rsqascii117o;t they ascii117se it then? And why is it taking Fox News to spascii117r other media organizations to take the Benghazi story serioascii117sly?
