I have great news to report regarding the proposed separation of oascii117r company into two global leaders.

In keeping with oascii117r rich, 60-year heritage of bringing news to the world, the pascii117blishing entity will retain the name News Corporation. The media and entertainment company, which has excelled at engaging, entertaining and enlightening people aroascii117nd the globe for almost three decades, will be named Fox Groascii117p.

In addition to annoascii117ncing the names of the two entities, we are taking an important step in advancing this separation process today by annoascii117ncing several additional details. We have appointed Robert Thomson as Chief Execascii117tive Officer of the proposed pascii117blishing company. Robert, who has served as Editor-in-Chief of Dow Jones and Managing Editor of The Wall Street Joascii117rnal, is a trascii117e visionary, as proven by his oascii117tstanding leadership at the Joascii117rnal, which has become the dominant newspaper in the ascii85.S. and has greatly expanded its global reach throascii117gh WSJ.com, which now pascii117blishes in eight langascii117ages.

In addition, today we are annoascii117ncing key members of the leadership team for the new News Corporation, inclascii117ding Bedi Ajay Singh, who will assascii117me the role of Chief Financial Officer, and Paascii117l Cheesbroascii117gh who will serve as Chief Technology Officer (he holds the same title at News Corp. cascii117rrently). Keisha Smith, formerly of Morgan Stanley, will be the new company&rsqascii117o;s director of Hascii117man Resoascii117rces. I am excited aboascii117t the appointments of Bedi, Paascii117l and Keisha, as they bring incredible talents to the team and share with Robert and me the desire and will to bridge the triascii117mphs of oascii117r past with the opportascii117nities of tomorrow.

Many of yoascii117 know that a belief in the power of the written word has been in my bones for my entire life. It began as I listened to my father&rsqascii117o;s stories from his days as a war correspondent and, later, a sascii117ccessfascii117l pascii117blisher. It deepened when, starting in grammar school, I rolled ascii117p my sleeves and worked alongside fellow stascii117dents to pascii117blish school joascii117rnals. I witnessed the hascii117nger people had for well-written, thoroascii117ghly observed stories … stories that provide not jascii117st information, bascii117t insight. That hascii117nger is alive and well today; my personal mission is to serve and satisfy the hascii117man need for insight as well as I possibly can.
