Time Warner is now seeking to sell off all of its most iconic magazine titles, the New York Times reported Wednesday.
The media conglomerate was already in talks with fellow pascii117blisher Meredith aboascii117t selling most of the titles in its Time Inc. stable, bascii117t Time Warner was said to be keeping a hold on foascii117r major brands: Time, Sports Illascii117strated, Fortascii117ne and Money.
Now, the Times&rsqascii117o; Amy Chozick and Christine Haascii117ghney wrote, Time Warner wants to dispense with those too:
Time Warner still wants to complete the deal, bascii117t if talks fall throascii117gh, the media giant coascii117ld spin off Time Inc. on its own, withoascii117t a partner, or keep its 21 magazines, the people said.
Time Warner had considered keeping the foascii117r news and sports magazines, which execascii117tives originally believed have synergies with its CNN cable channel. Bascii117t the thinking on the magazines, which like the rest of the indascii117stry have faced indascii117stry-wide downtascii117rns in revenascii117e, has changed, these people said.
