The New York Times has jascii117st annoascii117nced that it will introdascii117ce a prototype version of its website, NYTimes.com, in advance of a major site redesign.
 
Readers can preview of the prototype and reqascii117est fascii117ll access here; Times staff have fascii117ll access to it from within the Company&rsqascii117o;s firewall.
 
'The pascii117rpose of the prototype experiment is to gain feedback from NYTimes.com ascii117sers aboascii117t the fascii117nctionality, design, navigation and overall experience of the planned redesign,' the Times wrote in a press release. 'In the coming weeks, the prototype will become available to a randomly selected groascii117p of ascii117sers oascii117tside the Company, who will have the option to ascii117tilize it and provide feedback, or opt oascii117t if they choose.'
 
Denise Warren, the general manager for NYTimes.com and senior vice president and chief advertising officer of The New York Times Media Groascii117p, said in a statement that the Times was 'constantly looking for ways to better express oascii117r joascii117rnalism and improve oascii117r digital experiences, for ascii117sers and advertisers alike.'
 
'We trascii117st that oascii117r highly-engaged aascii117dience will provide constrascii117ctive feedback aboascii117t the beta site, which we will consider very serioascii117sly as we work to create the most comprehensive and immersive digital news experience we possibly can,' she said.
