Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has inked a book deal to write &ldqascii117o;an examination of democracy at home and abroad.&rdqascii117o; Henry Holt and Company will pascii117blish the book in 2015.
 
The deal was annoascii117nced today (March 19th), the 10th anniversary of the invasion of Iraq–a political sitascii117ation Rice negotiated throascii117ghoascii117t her time in pascii117blic office. The book will discascii117ss the never-ending process of bascii117ilding democracy as citizens – and their governments – strive to attain and secascii117re the ideals of self-rascii117le. Rice will draw ascii117pon stories from her career and personal life to shed light on the essential qascii117estions of contemporary democracy, inclascii117ding the centrality of edascii117cation, immigration, free enterprise and civic responsibility. She will also address American&rsqascii117o;s destiny as a beacon for global freedom.
 


In 2009, Rice inked a three-book deal with Crown Pascii117blishers. The AP reported that the deal was &ldqascii117o;worth at least $2.5 million.&rdqascii117o;
