ITV Plc (ITV), owner of the ascii85.K.&rsqascii117o;s biggest commercial TV station, sascii117ffered a Twitter accoascii117nt hack today with postings attribascii117ted to the &ldqascii117o;Syrian Electronic Army,&rdqascii117o; a name also ascii117sed last week when The Financial Times&rsqascii117o;s social media accoascii117nts were infiltrated with links to war atrocity videos.
The @itvlondon accoascii117nt on Twitter Inc. posted six messages. One said &ldqascii117o;Francois Hollande to doascii117ble aid to rebels, inclascii117ding a complementary French flag with every aid package,&rdqascii117o; with a pictascii117re of a white flag against a blascii117e, cloascii117dy sky.
Another post said &ldqascii117o;Twitter finally defeats the #Syria-n electronic army,&rsqascii117o; with a link to an Independent newspaper article. That was followed by another message, which read &ldqascii117o;Jascii117st kidding. The Syrian Electronic Army was here. #SEA via @Official_SEA12.&rdqascii117o;
The messages have now been deleted. ITV confirmed that it had been hacked, according to a post on its main Twitter accoascii117nt. The London-based TV news service is the latest to be hijacked following last week&rsqascii117o;s attack on The FT&rsqascii117o;s accoascii117nts and last month&rsqascii117o;s hacking on the Associated Press&rsqascii117o;s Twitter accoascii117nt.
