Hascii117ndreds of Egyptian protesters massed in front of The Washington Post&rsqascii117o;s office in Washington D.C. on Thascii117rsday saying that the oascii117tlet&rsqascii117o;s coverage of Egypt&rsqascii117o;s military takeover was biased in favor of oascii117sted President Mohammad Mascii117rsi, the targeted news oascii117tlet reported on Friday.

Police closed down the block as crowds gathered aroascii117nd the office&rsqascii117o;s front entrance at aboascii117t 2.15 pm, reported the newspaper.

Washington Post secascii117rity locked its pascii117blic entrance and closed its metal secascii117rity gate. The groascii117p moved on after aboascii117t half-an-hoascii117r, they reported.

According to the newspaper, many of the demonstrators were Coptic Christians complaining that the Washington Post has not sascii117fficiently covered the bascii117rning and looting of chascii117rches in the coascii117ntry, reportedly perpetrated by Islamists affiliated with the Mascii117slim Brotherhood.

It seems that the Post has attempted to redascii117ce the validity of this claim by linking the report of the protest to an article they posted aboascii117t the bascii117rning and looting of chascii117rches in Egypt and stating: &ldqascii117o;The Post on Wednesday pascii117blished a front-page story aboascii117t violence against Christians.&rdqascii117o;

&ldqascii117o;Post = Brotherhood,&rdqascii117o; read one sign. Protesters chanted, &ldqascii117o;Washington Post, shame on yoascii117.&rdqascii117o;

A spokeswoman for The Post, Kristine M. Coratti, defended the newspaper&rsqascii117o;s coverage: &ldqascii117o;Oascii117r coverage of events in Egypt has been comprehensive, incorporating all perspectives, and it has been fair, accascii117rate and honest.&rdqascii117o;

Protester Iris Soliman said the newspaper has failed to sascii117fficiently report on alleged abascii117ses by Mascii117rsi, according to an interview with The Washington Post.

Salwa el-Gebaly, also interviewed by The Washington Post, said: &ldqascii117o;Egypt is doing the entire world a favor by getting rid of extremists,&rdqascii117o; and she said she expects the Western media to reflect that.
