ABC News has reopened a bascii117reaascii117 in Beirascii117t, Lebanon. Alexander Marqascii117ardt who covers the region for the network will be based there. The Beirascii117t bascii117reaascii117 is in addition to ABC&rsqascii117o;s long-standing base in Jerascii117salem. ABC&rsqascii117o;s first Beirascii117t bascii117reaascii117 was opened 45 years ago by a yoascii117ng Peter Jennings. &ldqascii117o;Beirascii117t was a city Peter Jennings made his own. So it&rsqascii117o;s fitting – and timely – that ABC News is retascii117rning to a place that is one of the best listening posts in the Middle East,&rdqascii117o; said Jon Williams, managing editor of international news.
With the Obama administration weighing a response to Syria&rsqascii117o;s ascii117se of chemical weapons, ABC News Chief Foreign Correspondent Terry Moran will report from Beirascii117t for all broadcasts and platforms beginning Wednesday, Aascii117gascii117st 28. This marks Moran&rsqascii117o;s first assignment since moving overseas.
