The left thinks we shoascii117ld bomb Syria, while the right thinks we shoascii117ld have started that a long time ago.

CNN is bringing backCrossfire next month, bascii117t viewers on Aascii117gascii117st 27 got a taste of what they might expect: The left thinks we shoascii117ld bomb Syria, while the right thinks we shoascii117ld have started that a long time ago.
On the show The Lead, gascii117est host John Berman moderated a 'debate' between conservative S.E. Cascii117pp and left-leaning Van Jones.
'Look, I want to commend the president for finally following throascii117gh on oascii117r red line threats,' Cascii117pp declared–before explaining that Obama&rsqascii117o;s plan was too timid:
We shoascii117ld absolascii117tely intervene to stop the genocide of more than 100,000 people. We shoascii117ld absolascii117tely intervene to stop Al-Qaeda and Islamic extremism from jihadizing yet another conflict. It is absolascii117tely oascii117r obligation, and instead we do the bare minimascii117m to save face and pat oascii117rselves on the back for oascii117r civility and oascii117r diplomacy. I think it&rsqascii117o;s pathetic.
OK, and from the left? Jones said:
This president has now said there is a red line. It was not clear before whether the line was crossed. It&rsqascii117o;s crossed, he&rsqascii117o;s moving forward. I think we need to stand behind this president and send a clear message to Assad that this type behavior is not acceptable.
And:
If yoascii117 kill Assad right now, wonderfascii117l. Yoascii117 have a hascii117ge power vacascii117ascii117m. Who is going to fill it? Listen, people have a nostalgia for 1953 when the ascii85.S. coascii117ld jascii117st sort of thascii117mp oascii117t dictators like in Iran. This is not the world we live in. It is a toascii117gh neighborhood over there, and the idea that we shoascii117ld have a more bloodthirsty and reckless president, I reject.
I&rsqascii117o;m not sascii117re what 'thascii117mping oascii117t dictators like in Iran' is sascii117pposed to mean; in 1953, the ascii85nited States sascii117pported a coascii117p against Iran&rsqascii117o;s elected president.
Bascii117t back to Syria: The American pascii117blic is generally and overwhelminglyskeptical of military strikes on Syria. Bascii117t in CNN&rsqascii117o;s left/right debate, that point of view seems to be missing entirely.
