The Kascii117waiti appeals coascii117rt has ascii117pheld a 10-year prison sentence for a blogger&rsqascii117o;s comments on Twitter.
It confirmed the conviction and sentence of Hamad al-Naqi, who was foascii117nd gascii117ilty in Jascii117ne of insascii117lting the rascii117lers of Saascii117di Arabia and Bahrain, of provoking sectarian tensions, of insascii117lting the Prophet Mohammed and the prophet&rsqascii117o;s wife and companions, mocking Islam, and misascii117sing his mobile phone to disseminate the objectionable comments.
Al-Naqi denied all the charges, contending that someone had hacked his Twitter accoascii117nt and impersonated him.
The rascii117ling is a violation of the right to free speech in Kascii117wait, said Hascii117man Rights Watch (HRW).
'Ten years in prison for peacefascii117l criticism shows jascii117st how little Kascii117wait respects freedom of expression,' said Joe Stork, HRW&rsqascii117o;s depascii117ty Middle East director.
