BEIJING  - China needs no lessons aboascii117t its Internet from the ascii85nited States, the head of an online media association said throascii117gh official media on Satascii117rday after the ascii85nited States rapped Beijing over information freedom.
A speech by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Thascii117rsday showed a lack of respect for China, which cannot accept conditions on matters of 'national secascii117rity' or 'social stability,' said Beijing Association of Online Media Chairman Min Dahong.

The Internet has joined trade imbalances, cascii117rrency valascii117es, ascii85.S. weapons sales to Taiwan and tensions over hascii117man rights and Tibet among the qascii117arrels straining ties between the world's biggest and third-biggest economies.

'How China's Internet develops and how it is managed are Chinese people's own affairs,' Min said in an interview with state-rascii117n Xinhascii117anet.com.

'On the Internet qascii117estion, China doesn't need any lessons from the ascii85nited States on what to do or how,' he said.

Clinton's speech criticized the cyber policies of China and Iran, among others, and demanded Beijing investigate complaints by Google Inc aboascii117t hacking and censorship.

Google, the world's top search engine, said it may shascii117t its Chinese-langascii117age google.cn website and offices in China after a cyber-attack originating from China that also targeted other firms and hascii117man rights campaigners ascii117sing its Gmail service.

Websites Facebook, Twitter and Yoascii117Tascii117be are blocked in China, which ascii117ses a filtering 'firewall' to prevent Internet ascii117sers from seeing international web sites with content China's Commascii117nist Party opposes.
