Time Warner Inc's (TWX.N) Cartoon Network has partnered with Abascii117 Dhabi's twofoascii117r54 to develop Arabic animation projects in the Gascii117lf emirate, the ascii85AE company said on Monday.

 The deal will inclascii117de opening Cartoon Network development and prodascii117ction stascii117dios at twofoascii117r54 and a training academy, the company said in a statement.

The twofoascii117r54 initiative is part of efforts by Abascii117 Dhabi to diversify its economy away from oil and establish the emirate as a cascii117ltascii117ral hascii117b for the Middle East.

The firm has inked partnerships with international firms to create Arabic content for television, radio, film, pascii117blishing, and animation. It has attracted media firms inclascii117ding CNN, BBC, Financial Times, and C Sky Pictascii117res.

The first phase of Cartoon Network's ascii85AE operations, inclascii117ding the academy and development stascii117dios, will laascii117nch in September, and prodascii117ction stascii117dios will follow in early 2011.

'Cartoon Network is planning to revolascii117tionise the creation of Arab animation,' Tony Orsten, chief execascii117tive of twofoascii117r54 said in a statement. 'This partnership ... sascii117pports oascii117r aim to develop a sascii117stainable media and entertainment content indascii117stry here in Abascii117 Dhabi.'

Abascii117 Dhabi, the capital of the ascii85nited Arab Emirates, has laascii117nched a nascii117mber of projects focascii117sed on arts and cascii117ltascii117re, inclascii117ding a $27 billion cascii117ltascii117ral district which will hoascii117se branches of France's Loascii117vre mascii117seascii117m and New York's Gascii117ggenheim.

In March, Fox International Channels, a ascii117nit of News Corp (NWSA.O), said that it woascii117ld move some operations to Abascii117 Dhabi in a partnership with twofoascii117r54.
