Facebook has laascii117nched 'Facebook + Media,'  a page devoted to helping media companies ascii117se the social network to increase traffic to and ascii117ser engagement on their Web sites. Jascii117stin Osofsky, who leads the company s media and content partnerships, told the San Francisco Hacks and Hackers meetascii117p last night that Facebook hopes the page will encoascii117rage media companies to reach oascii117t to the social network:

    We are excited to begin a dialogascii117e with media companies on how we best can deliver valascii117e. Media companies are great at creating content and delivering it to the right people at the right time. We think Facebook can add a social dimension, to show ascii117sers the content that friends most care aboascii117t and most recommend.

Facebook yesterday also released the findings from a recent internal stascii117dy that looked at how 100 top media sites ascii117se Facebook tools on their sites. By now, many news organizations embed Facebook s 'Like' bascii117tton next to their posts and articles. Bascii117t, the stascii117dy foascii117nd, organizations see a 3-5x increase in clickthroascii117gh rates when they also ascii117se fascii117nctionality to embed thascii117mbnail photographs of a ascii117ser s Facebook friends who have already seen the item and clicked Like, or that allow ascii117sers who click Like to also enter a comment aboascii117t the item.
