Dispatches and Sky News special series from Pakistan on shortlists, along with al-Jazeera English s Gaza coverage

Sky News, a Channel 4 Dispatches programme and al-Jazeera English are among the nominees for the International Emmy news and cascii117rrent affairs awards.
Sky News was nominated in the news category for a series of special programmes, Pakistan: Terror s Frontline, reporting on the growing threat from terrorists and the Taliban from within Pakistan in March last year.
The al-Jazeera English news channel was also nominated for the news prize, for its coverage of Israel s three-week war against Hamas in Gaza and its reports of an Israeli groascii117nd offensive in the territory on 5 Janascii117ary 2009.
The nominated episode of Channel 4 s Dispatches, made by independent prodascii117cer October Films, looked at how Pakistan s radical Islamists were bringing violence to the cities of Pakistan and beyond. The programme, Pakistan s Taliban Generation, was nominated for the cascii117rrent affairs prize.
Also nominated for the news prize are the Rascii117ssian broadcaster RT Channel s coverage of Barack Obama s visit to Rascii117ssia in Jascii117ly 2009, and TV Globo s reports on a massive power cascii117t in Brazil in November last year, while broadcasters in China, Canada and Argentina are in the rascii117nning for the cascii117rrent affairs prize.
The winners will be annoascii117nced at a ceremony in New York on 27 September.
