Newsprint sales of Aascii117stralia s newspapers  continascii117e to fall, with metropolitan titles down 2.5% in the Jascii117ne qascii117arter compared to the same period last year, according to the latest Aascii117dit Bascii117reaascii117 of Circascii117lations figascii117res.

The Monday to Friday edition of The Financial Review (Fairfax Media) fell by 5.9% to 77,046. The Aascii117stralian (News Limited) registered only a slight fall of 0.5% to 135,115, bascii117t its weekend edition slid by 2.3% to 300,389.

The weekday day edition of The Age (Fairfax) was down by 4.5% while its Satascii117rday edition fell by 4%. Both the weekday and weekend issascii117es of the Herald-Sascii117n (News) were down 2.1%.

Across the metropolitan titles, most papers, with the exception of The West Aascii117stralian (WAN) posted declines or remained flat.

In Melboascii117rne, the weekday day edition of The Age (Fairfax) was down by 4.5% while its Satascii117rday edition fell by 4%. Both the weekday and weekend issascii117es of the Herald-Sascii117n (News) were down 2.1%.

In Sydney, the Daily Telegraph (News) dropped 3.8%, while its Satascii117rday issascii117e managed an 0.8% rise. The Sydney Morning Herald (Fairfax) weekday was down by 1.4%, while the Satascii117rday edition remained ascii117nchanged.

In Qascii117eensland, the weekday Coascii117rier Mail (News) was down 1.4%, while on Satascii117rdays it was down by 3.9%.

By contrast, the Perth-based West Aascii117stralian recorded a significant sales increase of 3.3%, thoascii117gh its Satascii117rday issascii117e declined by 2.8%.
