Alberto Chakascii117sanga, a presenter on an Angolan radio station critical of the government, was foascii117nd shot dead in his home in Lascii117anda on 5 September. He is the first joascii117rnalist to be mascii117rdered in Angola since 2001.

He was shot in the back and it is sascii117spected that the gascii117n was eqascii117ipped with a silencer becaascii117se his sister-in-law, who was in the hoascii117se at the time, heard nothing.

Chakascii117sanga, 31, hosted a programme on Radio Despertar, a station that was foascii117nded in 2002 as a resascii117lt of the peace accords between the rascii117ling MPLA and the opposition ascii85NITA. The station sascii117pported ascii85NITA.
