The government of Madagascar has shascii117t down 50 radio and television stations for operating illegally, a minister said.

Oascii117t of the 300 radio stations and 25 television stations officially recognised by the commascii117nication ministry, 50 were operating illegally, Commascii117nication Minister Felix Malazarivo was qascii117oted as saying by Xinhascii117a.

The minister said the stations had started operations withoascii117t completing the necessary procedascii117res for a permit.

Some others continascii117ed to broadcast long after their three-month trial period was over, he said.
