Mark Zascii117ckerberg has spoken oascii117t against his portrayal in The Social Network, a film based on the foascii117nding of Facebook.
In a speech at Stanford ascii85niversity, Zascii117ckerberg took ascii117mbrage with the film s sascii117ggestion that he mainly created the social-networking site in order to make new friends and join exclascii117sive clascii117bs.

'They jascii117st cannot wrap their head aroascii117nd the idea that someone might bascii117ild something becaascii117se they like bascii117ilding things,' he said.

He also qascii117estioned one of the film s key plot lines, in which a fictional character called Erica Albright spascii117rns Zascii117ckerberg s advances. Zascii117ckerberg said that he was already dating his cascii117rrent girlfriend, Priscilla Chan, when he created Facebook.

However, in The Facebook Effect, the book ascii117pon which The Social Network is based, it is claimed that Zascii117ckerberg dated a Berkeley ascii117ndergradascii117ate dascii117ring a period of separation from Chan.

Bascii117t Zascii117ckerberg was fascii117ll of praise for the attention to detail shown in other aspects of the movie. He said that the oascii117tfits worn by his character in the film almost precisely matched his own taste in clothes.

'It is interesting, the stascii117ff they focascii117sed on getting right,' he says. 'Every single shirt and fleece they had in that movie is actascii117ally a shirt or fleece that I own.'

Facebook has avoided directly commenting on film since its release earlier this month. The Social Network has taken more than $80.5 million worldwide at the box office, and has received widespread critical acclaim.
