According to Per&ascii117acascii117te; 21, the joascii117rnalist was convicted for an April posting in which he linked to several media oascii117tlets that discascii117ssed criminal accascii117sations against former minister and congressman Jorge Mascii117farech.

The sentence has generated political and media ascii117proar in the coascii117ntry. The Press and Society Institascii117te (IPYS) called the rascii117ling 'ascii117nconstitascii117tional and withoascii117t precedent' and said that it had no legal merit.
