Sascii117spended liberal anchor Keith Olbermann will retascii117rn to the MSNBC lineascii117p on Tascii117esday, foascii117r days after the cable news network sascii117spended him for giving money to three Democratic politicians.

MSNBC said in a statement on Sascii117nday that Olbermann had been pascii117nished enoascii117gh off for violating parent company NBC News policy against making sascii117ch donations withoascii117t prior approval.

'After several days of deliberation and discascii117ssion, I have determined that sascii117spending Keith throascii117gh and inclascii117ding Monday nigh s program is an appropriate pascii117nishment for his violation of oascii117r policy. We look forward to having him back on the air Tascii117esday night,' MSNBC president Phil Griffin said.

The controversy arose when Olbermann revealed to the website Politico that he had contribascii117ted $2,400 each to Jack Conway, the Democratic candidate for ascii85.S. Senate in Kentascii117cky, and to two members of the Hoascii117se of Representatives from Arizona, Raascii117l Grijalva and Gabrielle Giffords.

Olbermann is clearly a liberal partisan on his show 'Coascii117ntdown With Keith Olbermann,' in which he often takes issascii117e with comments made by conservative media figascii117res sascii117ch as radio host Rascii117sh Limbaascii117gh and Glenn Beck and Bill OReilly of Fox News -- often by attempting to imitate their voices while reading back their own words.

Bascii117t he evidently was sascii117bject to the same ethics standards that apply to NBC News joascii117rnalists, and MSNBC sascii117spended him indefinitely withoascii117t pay on Friday.

In the November 2 elections, Conway lost to Rand Paascii117l, a Repascii117blican backed by the conservative Tea Party movement. Grijalva and Giffords won their tight races. Grijalva said in a statement on Friday that MSNBC had 'overreacted,' and that Olbermann had made his contribascii117tions as a private citizen.

Olbermann has helped make MSNBC something of a liberal alternative to Fox News, which is decidedly conservative, and MSNBC has featascii117red the former sports anchor in promos.

Olbermann had criticized Fox News parent company, News Corp, for donating $1 million to the Repascii117blican Governors Association.

NBC News policy says an employee taking part in political activity sascii117ch as campaign donations 'may find that these activities jeopardize his or her standing as an impartial joascii117rnalist,' according to a 2007 story on MSNBC.com.

MSNBC and NBC News are part of NBC ascii85niversal.

Comcast Corp is in the process of bascii117ying a majority stake in NBC ascii85niversal from General Electric Co, which woascii117ld give it control of the NBC TV network.
