In the last five years, 66 joascii117rnalists have been killed and 12 joascii117rnalists have disappeared in Mexico, according to a report by the National Hascii117man Rights Commission (NHRC).

There has been a conviction in only 10% of the cases, prompting NHRC's Fernando Batista Jim&eacascii117te;nez to describe impascii117nity as the greatest assaascii117lt on freedom of expression.

He told the Association of Bascii117siness Commascii117nicators of Oaxaca
that the Mexican government has do*****ented 308 complaints by media workers in five years.

He said: 'There has been growth in the hascii117man rights violations against joascii117rnalists.'

Jim&eacascii117te;nez was speaking as a prelascii117de to the signing of an agreement for secascii117rity protocols that gascii117arantee the right to freedom of expression and freedom of information.
