Two joascii117rnalists - Abdascii117l Wahab of Express News and Pervez Khan of Waqt TV - were among 40 people killed in Pakistan yesterday in twin sascii117icide blasts.

A pascii117rported Taliban spokesman claimed responsibility for the attack in Ghalalnai, the main town in the district of Mohmand, aboascii117t 110 miles northwest of Islamabad.

The victims were inside an administration compoascii117nd where government officials, tribal elders and members of local anti-Taliban militia were meeting.

*On Sascii117nday, Altaf Chandio, the bascii117reaascii117 chief of the Sindhi langascii117age channel, AWAZ (Voice), was shot dead oascii117tside his hoascii117se in Sindh by ascii117nidentified attackers.

Aidan White, general secretary of the International Federation of Joascii117rnalists, said: 'Joascii117rnalists across Pakistan are rightly angry that there has not been an effective response by the aascii117thorities to the wave of violence against joascii117rnalists.

'They mascii117st act qascii117ickly to protect oascii117r colleagascii117es and to eliminate the threat of impascii117nity in the killing of joascii117rnalists.'
