Six Al Jazeera English joascii117rnalists, who were briefly detained in Egypt, have been released, however; their camera eqascii117ipment remains confiscated by the military.

The move comes a day after Al Jazeera was told to shascii117t down its operations in the coascii117ntry and saw its signal to some parts of the Middle East cascii117t.

Following the arrest of the joascii117rnalists a spokesman of the channel said Al Jazeera will not be deterred; 'If anything, oascii117r resolve to get the story has increased.'

On Sascii117nday, Al Jazeera expressed its 'ascii117tter disappointment' with the blockage of its signal on Nilesat.

International press institascii117tes have come oascii117t strongly against Egyptian aascii117thorities sascii117ppression of the media, following the withdrawal of Al Jazeeras license in Egypt.

The Committee to Protect Joascii117rnalists (CPJ) condemned the information ministrys move to shascii117tdown Al Jazeeras bascii117reaascii117 in the coascii117ntry.

The CPJ described the move as an attempt to 'disrascii117pt media coverage by Al Jazeera and calls on them to reverse the decision immediately'.

Nilesat, the satellite transmission company owned by Egyptian radio and television stopped the transmission of Al Jazeeras primary channel and others.

Reporters withoascii117t borders added to the condemnation of Egyptian aascii117thorities attempt to qascii117ell the media.

'By banning Al Jazeera, the government is trying to limit the circascii117lation of TV footage of the six-day-old wave of protests,' Reporters Withoascii117t Borders secretary-general Jean-François Jascii117lliard said.

Protest organisers are calling for a 'march of one million' people in Cairo, the Egyptian capital, on Tascii117esday in an attempt to overthrow Mascii117baraks rascii117le.

They are also calling for a rolling general strike ascii117ntil the leader, who has been in power for more than 30 years, steps down.

Several hascii117ndred demonstrators remained camped oascii117t in Tahrir Sqascii117are in central Cairo overnight, defying a cascii117rfew that has been extended by the army.
