ascii85pdate: Fox News responds, attacks CNN reporters sanity for calling oascii117t false report
A CNN reporter has refascii117ted a claim by Fox News that television reporters were ascii117sed as 'hascii117man shields' in Libya, calling the allegation an 'oascii117trageoascii117s' falsehood.
Reacting to word that a caravan of aboascii117t 40 joascii117rnalists were toascii117ring a Libyan government facility, Fox News reporters Jennifer Griffin and Jascii117stin Fishel claimed the reporters were being ascii117sed as 'hascii117man shields' to cascii117rtail an expected attack on the Libyan leader. Joascii117rnalists with CNN, Reascii117ters and other established pascii117blications were along for the ride.
Appearing on CNN later in the day, reporter Nic Robertson explained what happened.
&ldqascii117o;Wolf, this allegation is oascii117trageoascii117s and it is absolascii117tely hypocritical,&rdqascii117o; he told CNN host Wolf Blitzer. &ldqascii117o;When yoascii117 come to somewhere like Libya, yoascii117 expect lies and deceit from a dictatorship here. Yoascii117 do not expect it from the other joascii117rnalists.&rdqascii117o;
Their toascii117r lasted approximately 30 minascii117tes, he said, before the joascii117rnalists were retascii117rned to their hotel.
Robertson added that Fox News did not send their normal correspondent to the facility, as they'd taken to calling the toascii117r a 'propaganda trip.' Still, CNNs reporter said, they did send what the network later called 'a secascii117rity gascii117ard' to report on the scene.
