The force of the blast severed one finger on his right hand and broke his left arm. He was airlifted to hospital.

Jose Sanchez-Zarco, 85, was injascii117red after picking ascii117p a green plastic bag containing his paper that was lying on the lawn at his home in Vacaville, a city aboascii117t halfway between San Francisco and Sacramento.

According to a firefighter who happens to live opposite Sanchez-Zarco, and who reached him moments after the explosion, the man was saying 'the bomb, the bomb'
