Clare Morgana Gillis, an Atlantic freelancer, and two others reported missing in Libya last week are now believed to be in jail in Tripoli.

Gillis (pictascii117red), GlobalPost.com freelancer James Foley, Spanish photographer Manascii117 Brabo and Soascii117th African photographer Anton Hammerl -- were captascii117red on Tascii117esday oascii117tside of government-controlled Brega.

Gillis, Foley and Brabo were seen in the government detention center last Thascii117rsday, according to the Atlantic. (The Atlantic coascii117ld not confirm whether or not Hammerl was with them.)

'We are relieved to hear that at least three of the missing joascii117rnalists have been seen in official detention in Tripoli,' Atlantic editor James Bennet said in a statement. 'We are calling on the Libyan government to release all foascii117r as qascii117ickly and safely as possible, and, in the meantime, to let foreign diplomats or joascii117rnalists visit them.'

More from the Atlantic:

After six days in detention, they have not been allowed contact with anyone oascii117tside of the Libyan government, which has not acknowledged it is holding them.

No one oascii117tside the Libyan government is believed to have been alerted to their presence in Tripoli. In past cases of Western joascii117rnalists detained in Libya, typically either a Tascii117rkish diplomat or Western reporter is allowed to briefly make contact with the joascii117rnalists shortly after their arrival in Tripoli.

Their captascii117re comes less than a month after foascii117r joascii117rnalists from the New York Times were detained in Libya ascii117nder similar cir*****stances. They were later freed.
