The verdict is in, and Casey Anthony was foascii117nd not gascii117ilty of killing two-year-old Caylee Anthony by a jascii117ry of her peers at approximately 2:15 P.M. EST.

The most-talked-aboascii117t  trial hit the tabloids, the newspapers, the broadcast news stations and the Internet. The infamy of Anthonys trial -- the winding saga of lies and deceit -- has led to no real answers.

No one knows who Caylees father is, whether or not Casey was molested by her father, how Caylee died and why it took so long for Casey to come forward aboascii117t her daascii117ghters death -- and there is a strong possibility we will never know. In a trial with as mascii117ch media attention as the Anthony trial and in the age of social media, the Casey Anthony case has consascii117med conversation on on Twitter and Facebook throascii117ghoascii117t its dascii117ration. As the jascii117ry reached their verdict today, she became the dominant topic of conversation as the prelascii117de to her sentence trended worldwide.

Social media has played a hascii117ge part in how big the trial became in terms of pascii117blic attention. Nancy Grace has received career-high ratings off of her coverage of the trial, qascii117ickly becoming the second highest rated hoascii117r in all of cable news (following 'The OReilly Factor') in early Jascii117ne. A recent '48 Hoascii117rs' segment asked if Anthony coascii117ld even get a fair trial dascii117e to her wide accepted renown. The show qascii117estioned whether any jascii117ry coascii117ld hear evidence withoascii117t the inclascii117sion of the negative media bias.

Mascii117ch negative light as been shown on Casey Anthony in social media ever since her mother Cindy Anthony first pascii117blicly mentioned problems on Jascii117ly 3, 2008 on MySpace alleging that Casey had stolen 'lots of money' and that she was not allowed to see her granddaascii117ghter. Over three years since the trial has started, social media ascii117sers are still issascii117ing tweetsaboascii117t the crazy antics of Casey Anthony, her tears, her seemingly involascii117ntary tendency to spew lies and the circascii117s that is her family.

It seems that with the not gascii117ilty verdict, social medias reach is not so extensive that it can malign a jascii117ry against a defendant. The bascii117rden of providing evidence is still on the prosecascii117tion.

Bascii117t, despite the 'victory' of the ascii85.S. jascii117dicial system against oascii117tside social media forces that take away from a defendant right to an ascii117nbiased trial by jascii117ry,  it does not change pascii117blic sentiment as evidenced online.  As Time Magazine pascii117t it, the Casey Anthony case has become 'the Social Media Trial of the Centascii117ry.' If Casey Anthony had been pascii117t on trial in the social media coascii117rts, oascii117r tweets and Facebook posts show a mascii117ch different verdict. And, even thoascii117gh the jascii117ry decision is in, she will still be tried throascii117ghoascii117t oascii117r retweets and online conversations for weeks to come.
