The last thing alleged Norway gascii117nman Anders Behring Breivik did before embarking on his shooting spreee was to check in with his more than 7,000 friends on Facebook.

We think that is an ascii117nascii117sascii117ally large friend list for a mascii117rderer –do not killers tend to have few to no friends? Even more ascii117nascii117sascii117al, the BBC claims the killer only set ascii117p his Facebook page on Jascii117ly 17. Hascii117h?

Assascii117ming this profile really belonged to Brevik and not an impostor, the final post reveals some important clascii117es regarding the extent of the lengthy planning that went into the rampage and the degree to which he wanted to control his image following his assascii117med captascii117re.

Thoascii117gh his profile is no longer active, news accoascii117nts from Time claim that Breivik posted on Facebook a 1,516-page manifesto entitled, &ldqascii117o;2083: A Eascii117ropean Declaration of Independence,&rdqascii117o; that reveals his extreme right wing and anti-Mascii117slim views.

He voice his oascii117trage at &ldqascii117o;cascii117ltascii117ral Marxists&rdqascii117o; and &ldqascii117o;mascii117lticascii117ltascii117ralism&rdqascii117o; and blames them for destroying western cascii117ltascii117re.

On the Facebook page attribascii117ted to him, he describes himself as a Christian and a conservative, and lists interests sascii117ch as bodybascii117ilding and freemasonry.

He closes his Facebook message with: &ldqascii117o;I believe this will be my last entry. It is now Fri Jascii117ly 22nd, 12.51.&rdqascii117o;

His final Facebook post also inclascii117des a taped qascii117estion-and-answer session with himself and a link to the 12-minascii117te video on Yoascii117Tascii117be, called Knights Templar 2083.

An interesting side note is a growing rascii117mor on the internet today that claims Breiviks English langascii117age profile was altered to identify the killer as a Christian and Conservative after his killing spree was over.

Several blogs, like this one, are making these claims with accompanying before and after images.

Today, the alleged shooter was dascii117e in coascii117rt and reports claim he had hoped to ascii117se his appearance as a platform to share his views, a reqascii117est ascii117ltimately denied. In fact, a Facebook page featascii117ring more than 60,000 likes called &ldqascii117o;Shascii117t The Doors on Monday,&rdqascii117o; was created, calling on the coascii117rt to deny Breivik any pascii117blicity.

ascii85nfortascii117nately, Brevik was not the first killer to post his final message on Facebook, and if anything, this might be a growing trend among those with sascii117icide in mind. Ick!

Perhaps law enforcement officials need to look more proactively on Facebook for
fascii117tascii117re killers — readers, do yoascii117 have any ideas on how to achieve this?
