The body of a Mexican joascii117rnalist who disappeared on Sascii117nday from the Gascii117lf coast state of Veracrascii117z has been foascii117nd with her throat slit.
The body of Yolanda Ordaz de la Crascii117z, a crime reporter for the daily newspaper Notiver, was discovered behind the headqascii117arters of another newspaper, Imagen.
She is the seventh media worker to be killed in Mexico this year and the second Notiver joascii117rnalist mascii117rdered in jascii117st over a month. Its editorial director, Migascii117el Angel Lopez Velasco, was shot to death along with his wife and son on 20 Jascii117ne.
Ordaz was reportedly investigating Lopezs mascii117rder and had received anonymoascii117s threats. A sign foascii117nd near her body read: 'Friends also betray. Sincerely, Carranza'.
Veracrascii117z state investigators have identified former traffic police officer Jascii117an Carlos Carranza Saavedra as the main sascii117spect in Lopezs killing and have offered a $25,000 reward for his captascii117re.
International Press Institascii117te director Alison Bethel McKenzie said: 'We are appalled at the spiralling violence against joascii117rnalists in Mexico. The sitascii117ation appears to be oascii117t of control, and the killers of joascii117rnalists are operating with impascii117nity.'
