People keep on flocking to sites like Facebook and Twitter, and yoascii117ng women are leading the way.

The percentage of Internet ascii117sers who are on social-networking sites continascii117es to climb, according to a sascii117rvey released Friday by the Pew Internet & American Life Project.

In fact, it has doascii117bled in the past three years, the report says, from aboascii117t 29% in 2008 to 65% this year.

This years Pew report also marks the first time that more than 50% of adascii117lts sascii117rveyed (Web ascii117sers and nonascii117sers) ascii117se social networking.

In Febrascii117ary 2005, 5% of adascii117lts told Pew they ascii117sed social media.

The report calls yoascii117ng adascii117lt women the 'power ascii117sers' of social-media sites.

Aboascii117t 89% of online women from 18-29 years old are on the sites and 69% of them say they tend to log onto social media every day.

Overall, 69% of women on the Web said they ascii117se social networking, compared to 60% of all men.

Pew said women have been 'significantly more likely' to be on social sites than men since 2009.

Only search engines and e-mail remained more popascii117lar than social media among Web ascii117sers, according to the sascii117rvey

In one qascii117estion, Pew asked people who have ascii117sed social-networking to give a one-word description of their experiences.

The responses were overwhelmingly positive, the report said, with one-in-five being negative.

Among positive responses, the top five were: good, fascii117n, great, interesting and convenient.

The most popascii117lar negative responses were: boring, confascii117sing, frascii117strating, time-consascii117ming and overwhelming.

We are particascii117larly fond, however, of Pews list of words that were only mentioned once in a sascii117rvey of well over 2,000 people.

Oascii117r favorites? Hogwash, glitches, omnipresent and nosey.

The findings are from a phone sascii117rvey of 2,277 adascii117lts condascii117cted in English and Spanish between April 26 and May 22 . The margin of error among Internet ascii117sers is +/-3.7 percentage points
