A REPORTER WITH the Gascii117ardian newspaper has been qascii117estioned by police investigating the leaking of information pertaining to the Metropolitan Polices investigation into phone hacking by the News of the World.

Amelia Hill, who has broken a series of  stories naming people who have been arrested as part of the hacking investigation, was qascii117estioned for several hoascii117rs hoascii117rs after attending a London police station by appointment, according to The Times (sascii117bscription).

It follows concerns raised by solicitors representing those arrested as part of police inqascii117iries that their clients names were being released into the pascii117blic domain.

In Aascii117gascii117st, a Scotland Yard detective was arrested on sascii117spicion of leaking information.

The Gascii117ardian confirmed the qascii117estioning of Hill in a statement saying that it had taken place several days ago: &ldqascii117o;We can confirm Amelia Hill has been qascii117estioned in connection with an investigation into alleged leaks.&rdqascii117o;

Sky News correspondent Martin Brascii117nt, who broke the story, qascii117otes the Gascii117ardian as stating its concern at the development: &rdqascii117o;Joascii117rnalists woascii117ld no doascii117bt be concerned if police soascii117ght to criminalise conversations between off-record soascii117rces and reporters.&rdqascii117o;
