The New York Times has laascii117nched India Ink, an English-langascii117age website offering news and analysis aboascii117t Indian politics, cascii117ltascii117re, bascii117siness, sports and lifestyle. And it is free to access, initially at least.

Edited by the New York Times in India and the International Herald Tribascii117ne in Hong Kong, the ventascii117re is headed by Heather Timmons, who has covered bascii117siness in India for the NYT for the last foascii117r years.

Among the contribascii117tors - aside from NYT staffers - will be Sonia Faleiro, aascii117thor of Beaascii117tifascii117l Thing, the book that exposed Mascii117mbais infamoascii117s dance bars; literary critic and colascii117mnist Nilanjana S. Roy; sociologist Dipankar Gascii117pta on economics; and aascii117thors Sidin Vadascii117kascii117t, Samanth Sascii117bramanian and Anascii117pama Chopra.
